Letter from our CEO 🌱

Hello,

my name is Carlos Tavares and I'm the Founder and CEO of Killswitch.

First of all, I would like to thank you much 🙏 for creating an account with Killswitch. Secondly, I would like to share with you my personal story and the reason I've created Killswitch.

Ever since I remember, I have been keen about protecting Nature and our Planet. So I tried my best to be environmentally conscious in my personal life: recycling as much as possible, caring about animals and save water and energy - things that most of us do on an individual level to try to save Earth and ourselves from extinction.

But in December 2020, I read the latest book from Sir David Attenborough - "A Life on Our Planet" - and that changed my life and the way I see our purpose on this small rock we call Earth. I knew then that I needed to do more. Not just with my individual actions, but try to help change things at a bigger scale - with a bigger impact.


When it comes to saving our Planet, biodiversity and the environment, there are many problems that need solving. But being in the software development world, I knew I could only help in a few of those problems. And one of those problems - and a very critical one - is the reduction of the green house gas emissions.

To cut down the CO2 gas emissions, we need to transform our whole transportation industry and turn it electric. And this electric revolution has already started (thank you 👍 Mr.Musk and Tesla for leading the way!), with the adoption of electric vehicles being a fast growing reality.

But with the on going mass adoption of electric vehicles, some important challenges will also come: during the next decades, the whole petrol-based infrastructure built for the last 100 years will need to change.

The good news is that electricity is pretty much everywhere! Not all of us can have a gas station at home or at the office right? But all of us do have electricity available - so we can have an 🔋 electric charging station anywhere!


In the future, everywhere we go we should have a EV charger or a plug ready to charge our car while we have our coffee, shop or park at the office. And here is where my contribution, Killswitch, comes into play!

Killswitch is a QR code payments platform that enables EV chargers to be used after a successful payment is received. This means that anyone - or any company - can make its EV chargers available, without giving away electricity for free and loose money. 

In fact, Killswitch allows to do the opposite: to turn your plug into a 💵 profit center - since you can freely define the price you charge for the usage of your EV Chargers.

So Killswitch is part of the electric revolution ⚡. And so are we all!

And hopefully together we will contribute to the end with the old, smokey and dirty fuel automobiles and walk into a greener future.
